Early Childhood Workers (childcare workers and early years teachers) are strategically placed to help address issues related to widespread ear disease among Indigenous children.
Early childhood workers can play an important role in:
- prompting early treatment of ear disease though knowing how ear disease can be identified (Go to checklists to identify hearing loss)
- helping families better understand ear disease and hearing loss (Go to 'sick ears')
- knowing how to advise families as well as directly help kids who have hearing loss (Go to 'helping kids').
There are also resources for trainers of early childhood workers to download on this site. The resources may assist early childhood workers around issues in ear disease and hearing loss among Inidgenous children. (Go to 'Useful resources')
